First Conference on Ethnicity, Race, and Indigenous Peoples in Latin
America and the Caribbean

ERIP-LACES Best Graduate Student Paper Award
To promote new scholarship focusing on Ethnicity, Race, and Indigenous
Peoples in Latin America, the LASA Section on
Ethnicity, Race, and Indigenous Peoples (ERIP) and the journal Latin American
and Caribbean Ethnic Studies (LACES) have jointly established the ERIP-LACES
Best Graduate Student Paper Award. This award gives special recognition to a
paper presented by a graduate student at the conference. The winner will
receive a $500 prize, will be honored at the conference, and will be offered
the opportunity to publish the paper to the journal LACES (subject to peer
review). The papers can be focused on any topic related to Ethnicity, Race, and
Indigenous Peoples in Latin America and the Caribbean and should conform to
standard academic guidelines in terms of style and presentation. The entries will
be evaluated by a three-member jury representing a range of disciplinary
approaches.
Papers must be submitted electronically. It is the responsibility
of the paper writer to ensure that it is delivered in good order and on time. Papers
(and any questions) should be sent to the ERIP-LACES Award Committee (email:

The submission deadline is Friday, April 4, 2008.
