San Diego airport transportation - shuttle services

 

Shuttle vans and buses operated by off-airport companies are a popular and convenient transportation option. Shuttle service is available at the Transportation Plazas across from Terminals 1 and 2, and curbside at the Commuter Terminal. Coming by car? Directions to the Center for Iberian and Latin American Studies, UCSD

 

From Interstate 5, exit on Genesee Avenue, westbound.

Turn left on North Torrey Pines Road.

Turn left on Pangea Drive into the UCSD campus.

Turn left into the Pangea Parking Structure and proceed to a visitor parking spots on the top level. There are two permit vending machines, one in the northwest corner of the lot, and the other on the Northeast corner, to purchase a parking permit. You may purchase an hourly permit (the cost is $1 per hour), or an all day permit at $6. The purchase of an all day permit also allows you to park in either a white V spot or in a green B spot. Hourly permits are only allowed to park in a white V spot. Walk out of the Pangea Parking Structure heading east toward Pangea Drive.

Turn left and walk east up Pangea Drive past the stop sign on North Scholars Drive. Continue walking east (uphill); the name of the street becomes Thurgood Marshall Road.

Turn left on the first street (International Lane).

Continue past the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IRPS) on your right until you find the Institute of the Americas complex on your right-hand side (three white buildings with red-tiled roofs situated around a plaza with a fountain in the middle). The Center for Iberian and Latin American Studies is in the building on the left (north side of the plaza).

 

Transportation between hotels and UCSD

 

Taxis are the best way to get around San Diego, La Jolla, and between your hotel and the conference site at UCSD. Rates of fare are: $2.40 flag drop, $2.60 per mile. Taxis are especially convenient and inexpensive if you share the ride with other colleagues. You can request your hotel staff to call a taxi or simply call Yellow Cab of San Diego, 619-234-6161.

 

Directions to the Center for Latin American Studies at UCSD: Ask the taxi driver to take you to UCSD, Latin American Studies Building on International Lane. If the driver does not know the place, provide the following directions from the intersection of La Jolla Village Drive and Gilman Drive:

- Go west on La Jolla Village Drive

- Keep straight onto North Torrey Pines Road

- Turn right onto Thurgood Marshall Lane

- First intersection is Scholars Drive, keep going uphill

- Turn left on International Lane and keep going for about 100 yards until you find the Institute of the Americas complex on your right-hand side (three white buildings with red-tiled roofs situated around a plaza with a fountain in the middle). The Latin American Studies Building is on the north side of the plaza.
